PassAlong Networks Employs Gracenote Technology in Interoperability Solution—freedomMP3™ Gracenote's Song Recognition Technology Reinforces Legal MP3 Sales Franklin, Tenn. — Jan. 4, 2007 — PassAlong Networks™, developer of digital media services and innovations, today announced a licensing agreement with Gracenote™ that employs Gracenote technology for song recognition in PassAlong's freedomMP3 interoperability service. FreedomMP3 is an interoperability platform that allows digital music to play on PCs, phones and portable digital music players while respecting both consumers' and creators' rights. FreedomMP3's patent-pending technology allows consumers to legally purchase raw MP3 music files from digital service providers (DSPs) and then play the music on portable digital music players, conveniently transfer the music to any of their other PCs and play the songs on MP3—enabled cell phones. "FreedomMP3 simplifies the whole problem of digital rights management (DRM) that is plaguing the marketplace right now," said Dave Jaworski, co—founder and CEO of PassAlong Networks. "By leveraging Gracenote's excellent song recognition technology, we will increase the power and reliability of the freedomMP3 software." "We are excited to help PassAlong free consumers from the hassles of current DRM limitations, while protecting the desire of the artists and labels to determine how their music is used," said Craig Palmer, CEO of Gracenote. "PassAlong is an innovator and our partnership is a major step towards a solution to interoperability in the marketplace." FreedomMP3 works on all PCs running Windows 2000 or higher. When a freedomMP3—enabled song is attempting to leave a computer, the consumer is alerted and asked to confirm either a "let it go" or "keep it here" action. Rights holders have the option to set the security level higher or lower depending on their needs. PassAlong Networks and Integrity Music recently announced the beta launch of faithMP3, the first freedomMP3—enabled online digital music store. To visit the beta release of the faithMP3 store, go to http://faithmp3.passalong.com. FreedomMP3 demos will take place in the Gracenote booth at CES in Las Vegas, January 8—11, 2007, LVCC South Hall 4 Booth 31646.
