PassAlong Networks and Orb Networks Partner to Provide the Most Comprehensive End-to-End Digital Music Service More Music In More Places On More Devices For Connected Consumers Franklin, Tenn. — May 24, 2007 — The freedom to discover and download music anytime, wherever you happen to be, and on the device of your choice is closer to becoming a reality. PassAlong Networks™, developer of digital media innovations, today announced a combined service with Orb Networks to provide an expanded digital media ecosystem for consumers. The service will include the ability to play PassAlong's independent catalog of 2 million raw MP3s across multiple devices and formats anywhere and at any time. "The consumer experience extends across platforms and devices," said Dave Jaworski, co-founder and CEO of PassAlong Networks. "Our Connected Consumer™ initiative is designed to empower consumers to experience media wherever they want – in their cars, on TVs, on vacation or on a computer other than where their digital media resides. Orb Networks has technology that enables us to achieve this vision." PassAlong will use Orb's technology to provide consumers with access to their complete digital media collection, including music, videos and photos so consumers can access their content anytime and anywhere. Consumers can then better manage their experience, including discovering, downloading and enjoying new artists from anywhere. "PassAlong Networks' pioneering suite of music discovery and commerce services is a perfect complement to Orb's industry-leading playback capabilities," said Ian McCarthy, Vice President of Music Product Marketing at Orb Networks. With the free Orb software installed on an always-connected Windows PC, users can now instantly enjoy the music they've purchased wherever they want it: on their living room TV hooked up to a Wii, PS3 or Xbox360, on one of more than 150 million mobile phones and PSPs, and on remote Mac and Windows PCs anywhere. No additional software installation is required on these playback devices. "We've seen the significance of time-shifting with TiVo and with other DVR devices," said analyst Ben Bajarin of Creative Strategies. "The next step in completing the digital media ecosystem will be place-shifting and device-shifting; this is true consumer empowerment. Consumers shouldn't care on which computer or device their content actually resides, they simply should be able to access it anytime, anywhere. Their experience has to be seamless." PassAlong intends to add its other products and services to the joint platform – OnTour®, Speakerheart™, freedomMP3™ and additional Connected Consumer initiatives including in-car music downloading and WiFi-enabled devices.
