PassAlong Networks to Launch MP3-Only Download Stores
Interoperability Comes to Mac Users with MP3 Library of 2.1 Million Songs
Franklin, Tenn. — August 24, 2007 — Media distribution developer PassAlong Networks™ will be launching multiple MP3-only stores for Macintosh and Windows through its StoreBlocks™ music distribution platform. The newest version of StoreBlocks now works on both Mac and Windows platforms supporting Safari, Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox browsers. The MP3-only download stores will feature 2.1 million songs from independent labels and from EMI. This is the largest legal MP3 catalog that includes songs from a major label.
"Empowering consumers includes providing greater interoperability with their various music players and devices," said Dave Jaworski, CEO of PassAlong Networks. "Now Mac users can experience flexibility, and convenient use of their music libraries everywhere, not just on their iPods."
The initial launch of MP3-only stores will involve select current clients of PassAlong and three new clients, including a portable music device aimed at teens. All 126 stores that are powered by StoreBlocks have already been upgraded to provide Mac compatibility and include 2 million MP3s as part of the standard 3 million song library. These stores include BreakthruRadio, TransWorld's f.y.e. – for your entertainment online music store and JAZZIZ download store.
"The ideal digital media ecosystem will require seamless interoperability across all devices," said Ben Bajarin, analyst for Creative Strategies, "This move is a very positive step in the right direction."
