PassAlong Networks' Jozef Nuyens to Serve on Panel at Music Industry Education Summit Nov. 11 NARAS Event to Facilitate Discussion Between Practitioners and Educators Franklin, Tenn. — Nov. 9, 2006 — PassAlong Networks™, an innovative leader in the digital media marketplace, announced today that Jozef Nuyens will serve on the Management and Marketing panel at the inaugural Music Industry Education Summit on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., hosted by NARAS, the association that organizes the "GRAMMYs." Nuyens is currently a NARAS board member and serves on the Producers and Engineers Committee. "This panel provides an incredible opportunity to discuss artist management and marketing in new media realms," said Nuyens. "It's important for educators and leaders in the industry to recognize that the traditional rules of management and marketing have changed. Because of the organic nature of media, we must be prepared to work within an evolutionary environment." Nuyens has extensive experience in the management and marketing domain. As co-founder and senior vice president of worldwide relations at PassAlong Networks, Nuyens is actively involved in the design and development of revolutionary digital media services. His latest initiative is Speakerheart™, an efficient, convenient and scaleable platform that allows independent media creators to market and manage their own music. Speakerheart enables artists to upload their own albums and tracks, convert their songs to ringtones, set prices and sell it all side-by-side in custom storefronts. Speakerheart and the many other digital media services offered by PassAlong are indicative of the new types of media that managers and artists must navigate in order to be successful in the industry. Prior to founding PassAlong Networks, Nuyens spent 20 years as founder and owner of The Castle, one of the most successful recording complexes in the Southeast, where he recorded projects by more than 300 Gold and Platinum artists from around the world. During the 1980s, Nuyens entered into a record label joint venture with Clive Davis' Arista Records, the label that launched Whitney Houston, TLC, Alan Jackson and many others. A three-time Grammy-nominated producer, Nuyens also founded Castle Productions, Castle Publishing, Castle Recording Studios and Tower I & Tower II Publishing companies, a joint venture with Time-Warner's Warner-Chappell. Nuyens also formed NAPRS (National Association of Professional Recording Services) and served as its president, signing more than 95 professional companies as members in the first three years. The Music Industry Education Summit is presented by the Producers and Engineers Wing of The Recording Academy®, MEIEA and Belmont University and attracts educators from around the country. Other panel topics include Publishing and Licensing, Record Label Operations and Entrepreneurship and Recording Technology and Production.
